Mitad británico, mitad estadounidense, - de ahí que el nombre del grupo sea "Extranjero"- Foreigner fue creado en Nueva York a principios de los años 70 por Mick Jones, Ian McDonald y su cantante Lou Gramm, a los que se sumaron Dennis Elliot, Al Greenwood y Ed Gagliardi.

Su discografía cuenta con un total de nueve álbumes y un Grandes Éxitos, que van desde 1977 a 1994. Tienen varios éxitos reconocidos como "Feels Like the First Time", "Cold as ice", "Dirty White Boy", "Waiting For A Girl Like You", o "That Was Yesterday; pero sin duda alguna, su gran éxito fue este "I Want To Know What Love Is", incluído en su trabajo Agent Provocateur, de 1985.
